Apr. 22nd, 2006 11:57 pmVarious odds and ends for this week...
Last week I caught a cold with a rather nagging, hacking cough that has been slowly getting better but has been very persistent, especially over the past few days. The annoying thing is that I think the cough will hang around a bit longer than I'd hoped. Apparently something has been going around, and I've ended up being one of the unfortunate victims.
The repairs on the S4 have been delayed by about a week because Audi didn't get the part to the repair shop in time. That means I temporarily have 3 cars (the M45, the TSX and the S4) until I get the S4 fixed... then I'll be back down to 2 since I'll be trading in the S4 then.
Sometime within the next couple of weeks we're getting the house re-appraised. That means a thorough cleaning of the downstairs area. I'm actually now planning to take 2 days of leave (next Friday and the following Monday) to get the place straightened out. Not sure if I'll be able to take leave, though, since I think my supervisor is out of town this coming week. The alternative is to cut down (or cut out) any socializing until the place is clean... or tackle it a little at a time.
By far I'm favoring the TSX over the M45 as my daily commuter car because the TSX gets nearly 1.5 times the gas mileage as the M45. And given that gas is now over $3 a gallon (and going up and up and up)....
technocollie has insisted to me that Hawaii is not the most expensive place to get gas, contrary to what the national news has been reporting. I heard that gas prices in Beverly Hills were up to $4.01 a gallon (which actually beats us... for now). But how can the average price of gas be $3.50 or so a gallon... with New York averaging $7 a gallon?! That doesn't sound right somehow....
Supposedly the gas cap has been all but completely eliminated, with a stipulation that the cap can never again be implemented. I'm curious to see where prices will end up as a result... if the gas cap is indeed gone, I would expect prices to spike, perhaps to $4 or $5 a gallon within the next couple of months... then who knows where afterward. I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up spending some $400 to $500 a month on gas alone...
