I'm in my hotel room adding my final FC06 comments to my LJ before I get some sleep.

The only event I was really interested in was the Dead Dog Party, but a couple of events diverted my attention:

First, I was in the hallway by the pool, relaxing and talking to [livejournal.com profile] spots_da_hyena and [livejournal.com profile] sithallanthis. [livejournal.com profile] spots_da_hyena told me that [livejournal.com profile] krag_carbine unfortunately overslept this morning (yesterday, as of the time of this posting) and it became a Chinese Fire Drill to get him to the airport. Fortunately he made the flight... but UNfortunately, his checked luggage did NOT. In fact, I got a phone call from him saying that it was seized.

My reaction: "What?!"

He relayed the story to me... for details, check out his LJ.

I handed the phone off to [livejournal.com profile] spots_da_hyena, then said that it would probably be a long shot but that I could try to check with some of the con staff leads. I would not be able to promise anything but I'd call if I found out anything.

As it turned out, there wasn't anything we could do. Nobody else had reported having their stuff seized, so it wasn't like there was a rash of luggage being detained at San Jose.

That brought me to around 2:30 pm-ish.

I said my goodbyes to [livejournal.com profile] sithallanthis and [livejournal.com profile] spots_da_hyena since they had to head out to catch afternoon flights... then joined [livejournal.com profile] tiresta at the hotel's restaurant for lunch. Yes, the hotel's restaurant menu is pricey... but as I found out, you also get quite a bit of food. I ordered a half sandwich and soup, which was around roughly $10... but the sandwich was fairly big and the soup was a bit on the spicy side (kinda like Megalith City's pepper stew).

Then [livejournal.com profile] tiresta and I headed off to Findra's place to drop off [livejournal.com profile] tiresta's stuff. When we came back to the con, I lounged in the hallway area again while waiting for the Dead Dog to start.

The Dead Dog was typical fare... mostly leftover snacks from the con suite, nothing really filling. I also managed to tell several friends goodbye, though there was/is one person (ahem!) that I missed. And the one thing I really hate about meeting people is if/when I don't get a chance to tell them goodbye. Admittedly at a big furry con like FC that's generally unavoidable, and there are ways to catch up online, like posting here or talking to the person on FurryMUCK.

But overall, I had a lot of fun at FC. It was great meeting a lot of people again, some for the first time. And since I'm not leaving until Friday, my vacation here is only about half over. In the morning it's a trip out to Monterey to check out the aquarium and the sea otters. Wednesday it'll be the Winchester Mystery House... and who knows what else. No idea what I'll be doing for Thursday though.

Two claws-up to everyone who worked to help make FC06 a success!
