More stuph
Nov. 15th, 2005 12:15 amI'm lying down in bed as I write this... listening to Coast to Coast AM (with George Noory).
Tropical Depression 27L, in the Atlantic, is trying to spin up into a tropical storm. News reports from earlier this morning said that the storm could become a tropical storm later this week and a hurricane by this weekend... but the latest forecast discussion from the National Hurricane Center is suggesting otherwise. For any (other?) weather geeks... check out http://www.nhc.noaa.gov for details.
This year the Atlantic has surpassed the Western Pacific in terms of storm activity... the WestPac is only up to 24W.
Japan had a major earthquake earlier today... around 2100Z, or a little after 11 am Hawaii time. It wasn't enough to trigger a Pacific-wide tsunami, but locally generated ones were reported.
One tidbit I forgot to mention last week was that part of the bumper music for last week's (Wednesday?) show was Bruddah Iz's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World." Though I've been hearing "Hawaii '78" more on the radio...
Shifting gears... as we head into the Christmas season we'll be hearing more and more Christmas music. I don't mind holiday music as long as it's sandwiched between other non-holiday songs, but if one station that I listen to is going to do what it did last year (played nothing but holiday music from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Day), I'll probably be listening to more CDs or other stations at work...
