Interestingly enough, it looks like only ONE otter bit on my last posting. :)

On the bad news side... my sister's kitten, named "Pihi" (because she looks like opihi, aka limpets), has been missing since Sunday. My sister told me that Pihi had left her a present that morning in the form of a decapitated mouse on the doorstep. I didn't get to see the quarry but found the story amusing. I've read that cats will often bring back their kills to their owners... possibly an indication that you've bonded so strongly with your cat that it attempts to parent you. I'm also reminded of a story that my mom once told me... one of the cats I grew up with, Tiger (who looked like the 9-Lives cat Morris), showed up at the door with a lizard in his mouth, still alive. He wanted to come into the house but my mom said no way. :)

Normally it wouldn't bother me too much to have a cat that's been used to the outdoors go missing for a few days... but Pihi's only about 4 or 5 months (or so) old. Still, even if she doesn't come home I'm sure she'll find a good home... she's playful, smart and very friendly.

On the good news side... I received a blast from the past in the form of an e-mail from someone that I worked with in Korea. Other than those people that I met in Korea and who had followons to either Offutt or Hickam, I pretty much lost touch with everyone else, so it was a pretty cool surpise. We overlapped our stays by only about 3 months or so, but I had to admire the guy's spirit and hard work.

In other news (neither good nor bad)... went to see "Serenity" Sunday. Good movie, but I never saw the Firefly series... though Serenity doesn't rely too much on the series.

Anyhoo, that's it for now...
