On a social sabbatical
Aug. 25th, 2005 02:14 amFor most of this month, I've been taking a sabbatical from RL socializing except for work and church. That's mostly because of my work schedule but also because I've been geographically limiting myself to an area between East Honolulu (Kaimuki-Kahala area) and Pearl Harbor/Hickam. technocollie... who in turn has often been too busy, too tired or feeling too sick to meet up.
Not that it bothers me... I think I actually need more time to myself, because shift work has been zapping quite a bit of my energy to where I'm really not up to doing much on my days off. Though too much of that tends to leave me bored and I end up using that time to do the typical feline thing (sleep).
I've also found a handy-dandy excuse not to go out unless I really need to... gas prices here are averaging $3 a gallon, meaning it costs anywhere from $30 to $40 to fill up, depending on which car I use. That's prompting me to use the Camry more because it's significantly more fuel-efficient.
Meanwhile, another friend has been calling like clockwork almost every weekend wanting to do stuff... I think he's either really bored, stir-crazy or both... but I've been blowing those calls off because I just haven't had the time to go to that side of the island, or when I have had the time, I just haven't felt like going there.
The upshot of all of this is that while I don't intend to be a social recluse (remember, I still socialize at work and at church), I probably won't really be able to socialize with any furs RL until FC06 at the earliest... and FC06 at this point is still somewhat iffy (mostly because of logistics).
