On gas cap prices
Aug. 14th, 2005 11:09 pmNot only am I not surprised to hear this:

... here's what "Doom Kitty" expects to happen:
1. Come 1 Sep, wholesale gas prices will immediately jump to whatever the "gas cap" price is. At current prices, that's roughly $2.70 per gallon.
2. Gas prices on the U.S. Mainland will also likely increase. They may stabilize for a while, but I still expect them to continue to rise. There is definitely NO way they are going down.
3. That price increase gets passed on to consumers.
I honestly would not be surprised to see gas rise to $3 per gallon here by the end of the year and possibly even up to $4 per gallon by the end of next year (though that second part may be a bit soon). And those are Oahu prices too... meaning that gas on the Neighbor Islands (especially Lanai) could be as high as $4.50 or even $5 a gallon.
But we'll have to wait and see if and/or when this comes true...
