A couple of work-related things
May. 11th, 2005 10:01 pmYesterday I spent a good chunk of my afternoon and part of the evening firing the M9 pistol. The thing is, though, the AF has apparently overhauled its M9 qualification program. There's no longer an initial and a refresher course... it's apparently now all taught as though it's an initial course. LOAC, the Law of Armed Conflict, and ROE, Rules of Engagement, are also briefed. All told, the classroom part takes up about 2 hours or so, while the actual firing takes about an hour.
I managed to qualify, but just barely. I think Razor would be shaking his head in disappointment. But then again, the excuse I have is that the last time I actually qualified on an M9 pistol was some 5-6 years ago, when I was at Travis.
Today I found out that I'll be going TDY to Omaha, NE for a week (22-28 May)... so if anyone is interested in meeting up, feel free to leave a comment! I should be free in the evenings and the nice thing is that I already know the area somewhat since I lived up there for about a month and a half prior to getting reassigned...
