Crappy feeling update

Went to sick call this morning and was diagnosed with a viral infection, which is both good and bad at the same time... good because it means I don't have to start a round of antibiotics, at least not in the short term, but bad because there's really no way to make it go away other than to let my cold -- and its associated symptoms -- run its course.

I had a throat culture taken so should hopefully know the results by this weekend, if it turns out to be strep.  But from what I've heard the indicators don't appear to point toward that since my sore throat is localized, mainly in the back and near the roof of my mouth, and primarily on the right side.  Since I also have congestion on that side as well as an occasional cough, it could be that postnasal drip is irritating my throat and making it sore.

Not that I'm gonna lose sleep over this, but it could temper any plans I had for meeting up with friends this weekend.

I'll also be busy babysitting my sister's kids -- her two dogs, one of which is a Shih Tzu and the other a Chinese pug -- while my sister and brother-in-law are off island for the weekend.  The kids are both pretty well-behaved, but the Shih Tzu seems to act more like a cat than a dog... finicky when it comes to food and doesn't always come when called.

Got off work early today due to a scheduled power outage in the building... which allowed me to push up my workout time and dinner.  That in turn could mean my getting to sleep a little earlier and getting a bit more sleep, which would help me combat this cold.

Bleah... being sick is no fun, mostly an annoyance....
