One story I've been following has been the passing of Pope John Paul II, who (as I write this) has not yet passed... but is apparently on the verge of death. Though I myself am not Catholic (my upbringing was Episcopalian, mainly because that was the denomination of the schools I went to growing up), I agree that he was an extremely influential and powerful person of his time. Yet he was also one of the most respected people of his time.

It doesn't mean, of course, that you agreed fully with everything the Pope said all the time. But when I look at his life, I see mostly positive impacts from all of it. Contrast that with Palestine's Yasser Arafat, whose impacts were probably more negative than positive.

In other news... I've been driving two cars a day: my Toyota Camry to and from work in the day and the Infiniti at night. I'm actually pretty reluctant to use the Infiniti because it's so brand new, but as [livejournal.com profile] technocollie pointed out, I need to start breaking it in... at a minimum, getting up to 1200 miles within the first 3 months (or by the end of June). That isn't an easy task... I've gotten up to 110 miles so far but the car already had 33 miles on it when I bought it.

The Infiniti will likely continue to be my weekend car, while I use the Camry for daily commuting. But I may take the Infiniti to work later on.... perhaps on a Friday, but probably not during the week. The biggest difference I've noticed between the two cars has been road noise... the Camry is significantly noisier, mainly in terms of wheel noise. In terms of engine noise, the Infiniti is louder, and I think that's simply because it has a V6 engine.

Not much else to report on this week. At least nobody's played any April Fools' pranks on me... yet.
