FC 2005 wrapup

I'm in the San Jose airport as I type this, waiting for my return flight to board. Right now there's no ready internet access (and I'm not willing to pay $$$ for less than half an hour's usage), so I'm typing this in windows notepad so I can cut and paste it into my LJ later.
But a quick recap of the events of last night and this morning:
Last night was the final day of FC, including the Dead Dog Party, where pretty much all of the leftover food is left out and whoever's left gets together and hangs out, etc. I'm not sure, but I think a homeless guy crashed the Dead Dog just to get some food... though there was so much food to begin with, and there were enough other furries around, that it wasn't much of an issue.
Got a few more pix of various antics that went on during the Dead Dog that I'll post to my web page (once I get the web page reset and running again, since I switched from the $90/year to the $0/year hosting on doteasy.com).
This morning I said goodbye to
ionotter and
llyander as well as dropped off
animakitty at the airport. Then it was off to find a local Trader Joe's. No luck finding it on my own, so I went back to the hotel, where I ran into
tj_wolf and a few other furs (sorry, guys, short-term memory fails me as to who you all are!)... we went to lunch at the local Denny's, though I had breakfast... then we parted company and I got directions from the concierge to the Trader Joe's. After that I killed some time at the mall doing some souvenir hunting for my sister (ended up getting a couple of T-shirts at the SJ airport in the end) and running an errand at a local bank for
ionotter. Couldn't get to a post office in time to send everything out, though, so the packing, etc. will have to wait until tomorrow. But I think the packing quality will also be much better since I won't be rushed to pack Ion's stuff.
Then it was off to the airport to return the rental car and check in. No snags, no special screening, none of that stuff... at least not at check-in. TSA can unlock and search my stuff all it wants, including my dirty laundry :P ... but I'm not particularly worried since I have no connections on this particular flight.
Which brings me to now, as I type this. I'll be boarding in a few... probably won't have much else to say once I get home since I'll likely be too tired to post. However, I'll likely have a followup posting of the flight home in a few days.
And... I'm seriously pondering a trip up to Vancouver, Canada to see some furs sometime in late April or early May since it looks like I won't be able to go in October due to scheduling.
When all is said and done, though there's no place like home, I will definitely miss everyone! Can't wait until next year (hopefully I can make FC06)....

The flight was pretty much uneventful... though I managed to get a seat in an empty row... so, just like when I flew over from Maui to L.A., I could stretch out across 3 seats to get some sleep.
Got in, took a taxi to the base, but because of a snafu the taxi couldn't get onto the base to drop me off. Fortunately I had a Plan B, which was to call one of the folks on duty on the ops floor to give me a ride to my car.
After that it was a brief stop at Zippy's for a very early breakfast, then back home... which brings me here now.
I should hopefully have my FC2005 pix posted by tomorrow... will probably spend a couple hours or so working on my webpage tonight before I get some sleep.
All in all, it was a fun trip. Hated to leave, but I suppose it's now time to get back to reality, as it were.
