Leftover entry from last night
Dec. 9th, 2004 01:18 amI originally wanted to post this last night but kept having net access issues so I had to wait until now to post.
=====
Got yet another BSOD when I tried to update my LJ using an offline client, so I think I'm going to use the web-based one (and just watch... that one will crash as soon as I post too).
Been having a flurry of computer problems tonight. Earlier tonight I tried to set up my sister's computer to use my wireless router, but I had problems getting it to work after the initial configuration (things crapped out as soon as I turned off the computer and turned it back on to show her that it would connect automatically).
That then led to my laptop not getting any connectivity, which then led me to disconnecting and rebooting both the router and the cable modem in my room downstairs. For 2 hours I kept trying to connect to the router's web-based settings but couldn't even connect to the router's default IP, even with a LAN cable directly connected.
Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this scenario was that with all of the fixes I was trying, I still couldn't get the network to behave properly... and then it just suddenly got better. At least I'm back on the net (for now, anyway).
Switching gears...
Was thinking earlier tonight about my mom and the coma she was in when I flew back in mid-November. She was wearing a t-shirt with wolves on it, though we later changed her into a red blouse... which we figured would be more appropriate for her. I'll admit I can't fully put that image out of my mind, but then again I draw inspiration from my mom's will and fight to live, while I also draw inspiration from how peacefully and quietly she passed... I think just the way she wanted.
Switching gears yet again...
Looks like I'm cleared hot to go to FC05... apparently there are no issues with the dates I want to be gone. I won't be able to take leave during the summer months, however, since that's peak typhoon seasonn in the Western Pacific and we'll need everyone available to help out. And FWIW, I was asked -- and agreed -- to be on one of the panels ("Furry Christianity"). So far I'm the only one on the panel but I hope they can scrounge up at least one other fur for the panel.
