Oct. 15th, 2004 11:44 pmMy mom appears to be doing a bit better... has been eating a bit more lately, which is good... and could be returning from the hospital as early as this coming weekend. It won't stop me from working a humanitarian assignment but could change my plans as far as returning to Omaha.
If my mom's condition stabilizes over the next week or so I'll probably return a week early. I'm reluctant to return too early, however, as there's no telling how she'll be over the next few days to weeks. I'll probably take at least a second week to evaluate the situation, however, since I had 2 months of leave on the books when I left, and I'll still earn 30 days over the coming fiscal year.
Like I said, I've written off both Midwest FurFest and Further Confusion, more because of scheduling and logistics than anything else. It's not that I don't want to go, nor that I can't afford to do so financially; in fact, I would love to go to both if I could, and until I flew back on emergency leave, I was hoping to go to FC05. But I just don't feel comfortable being far from home unless it's not my choice. I can justify going back to Omaha because that's where I'm now stationed. I can't justify going to MFF or FC05 when I can and/or should be spending that time at home instead.
