Grr.

My $%&%* laptop has been crashing so much lately that I've now had to resort to composing emails and LJ updates with a text editor, then uploading them once I'm satisfied with their content.

I've considered just dealing with the laptop, problems and all, until the rest of my stuff arrives, but it now looks like there may be a significant catch to that.

That catch is that I may decide NOT to get my household goods delivered.

And that, in turn, is because I've put in for a humanitarian reassignment so I can be closer to my mom. With her being so critically ill, I could be leaving as early as next week to go home... then possibly getting reassigned while I'm there.

That's kind of made the trouble of having gotten an apartment rather pointless now, but I had to at least go through the motions of planning to stay. I'm honestly starting to wonder if I should have just instead stayed in lodging and not even bothered with a lease, especially if now it looks like I may not even be making any use of the apartment. The only problem with that is that lodging only lets you stay a certain number of days (1 month maximum if you're inbound, so I would have had roughly another week)... and I would have at least needed a place to store the car.

Of course, if/when I move back it'll be back home, but it's hard to say for how long. And there's also no guarantee that I'll be reassigned right away.

With so much in flux I have no idea if I did the "right" thing, but I suppose I did.

I guess only time will tell what happens from here. As I noted in my last entry, I've had to pretty much live from day to day and be ready to drop everything at a moment's notice, if necessary...
