Hmm... isn't that the name of a song?
But as the subject title says, I'm one week out from leaving Hawaii for Nebraska. A big jump, to be sure, and it would probably be a somewhat insane choice if I had done it by choice. But it wasn't by choice, but because of my job. Still, I'm looking forward to the change in scenery and also to meeting up with new friends. However, as I've mentioned before, I'm not looking forward to leaving my friends.
To quote some platitudes, yes, familiarity may breed contempt, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. I know I'll miss my family, and especially my friends, but I'm sure I'll see at least some of them again. When and where, though, remains to be seen.
And just in case the timestamp on this entry confuses anyone, I reset the time on my computer to the Central Time Zone, so the timestamps will be (for now) 5 hours ahead of what they would otherwise be (if that makes any sense)....
