More odds & ends

"American Idol 3": Looks like America finally wised up and voted off the Stan Laurel lookalike, aka John Stevens. Admittedly it was quite an accomplishment for him to get as far in the competition as he did, but then again I don't think he was all that great a performer. I will admit that he had a unique style, however. Still, it's somewhat of a shame too since next week will be Big Band sounds, something that I think he would have really done well in -- or at least had the opportunity to have done well in. In any case, here's how I think the Final Five will pare down:
Next week (week of 3 May): Diana DeGarmo - Fantasia Barrino - LaToya London - George Huff (voted off: Jasmine Trias)
Week of 10 May: Diana DeGarmo - Fantasia Barrino - LaToya London (voted off: George Huff)
Week of 17 May: Diana DeGarmo - LaToya London (voted off: Fantasia Barrino)
Week of 24 May: LaToya London (crowned the next AI)
We'll see how my predictions come out....
In other news, nothing else to really report... been pretty much business as usual. On 10 May (week after next Monday) local civil defense will be testing its emergency response during the annual statewide hurricane exercise, Makani Pahili. I think my involvement in the exercise will be limited to setting up and coordinating conference calls between the various weather units on-island during the exercise.... though it's hard to say at this point.
