Hickam Friends & Neighbors Weekend
Aug. 10th, 2003 09:19 amI'll let the URL speak for itself (hopefully it'll stay up for a short while, at least):

Checked out the displays and the Thunderbirds air show yesterday... going back again today (both times with different friends... we couldn't all go the same day due to conflicting schedules, not to mention I wanted to go back to see, and videotape, a few displays).
Had a rather interesting -- that is, if you want to call it that -- night last night. Around 2:45 a.m. I got a phone call from another LJ user (am deliberately withholding the name, but those who have read his LJ will probably know who it is), who was apparently having some serious coughing fits at work and had to go the hospital emergency room. It was more of an acute than emergent problem though -- "acute" meaning anything serious that needs to be treated soon but in a pinch can wait up to 24 hours, while "emergent" situations can't wait at all.
In any case, I was asked to provide transportation. Going from downtown to Wahiawa, then back into town, then back to Wahiawa, and back downtown is not all that short either, mind you. Still, I agreed... mainly because this is something I would do in a heartbeat for a friend, AND I also felt an obligation to take care of him. That last part is a leadership thing... "take care of your people."
In any case, I waited in the car (so I could take a nap, however fitful it was, since I'm a light sleeper to begin with) for something like 2 hours before he came out, with all kinds of good stuff (Tylenol with codeine, Sudafed, and NyQuil). And yes, it was all under prescription.
Got breakfast (since it was already sunrise by the time we got back to Wahiawa) and had coffee. Big mistake, I think, because now I'm artificially wired so I couldn't really sleep even if I wanted to. Still, I'll try to get in a nap or two before I head out.
More on Hickam's FNW later...
