Looked back over my last entry to discover it had been made nearly a month ago. I know I've been pretty sporadic about updating this thing, but I didn't realize it was that long.

As it turned out, a very noteworthy event happened tonight: Hawaii elected its first woman governor, AND its first Republican governor in a long time. One comment made by governor-elect Linda Lingle was that she wants to show that the 2-party system does indeed work in Hawaii. Democrats have controlled the state for quite some time, and perhaps now, as Lingle's campaign slogan said, "it's time" for a change.

I'll admit I didn't vote for Lingle, and as it turned out, the vote was pretty closely split halfway (50% to 47% margin). I'm not sure if I can articulate exactly why I didn't vote for her, but I think it came down to that I didn't have enough confidence or faith in her plan for "a new beginning". However, the times, they are a-changing, and perhaps Hawaii really needs to have Republicans taking over to start change. Whether or not this change will work remains to be seen, but as for me, I'll remain open-minded. If Lingle can actually bring about positive change in the next 4 years, I'll easily support her for re-election. But let's see what the next 4 years bring first.

Okay, enough politics. What else has been happening since my last entry?

For starters, I got back from Canada on the 11th and enjoyed a 3-day weekend before going back to work. It was pretty much business as usual, except that this week my office was being renovated (about time, perhaps?), so I've been working out of a temporary location for a few days.

I also spent a weekend helping my sister move -- I guess you never realize how much stuff you have until you actually pack it up and move it...

On up-and-coming things: I'll be in Alabama from sometime around the end of February to the end of March for a 5-week class that'll be some book studying and some PT. Speaking of which, even though I've been jogging regularly, I don't think I'm all that physically fit... especially when it takes me over an hour just to jog 4 miles (with frequent rest and/or stretching breaks).

Further Confusion is coming up in January, but I haven't even remotely thought about it yet. I think I'll start planning for it when the folks I plan to room with start doing so, too.

Okay, I think that's about enough spam for this entry. Time to go and get some sleep!

Did intramural bowling tonight, shot a 161, 150 and 163. Not bad, kinda slightly below average, but not too bad...
