Proof that every cloud has a silver lining?... after Wednesday's fiasco, it seems as though things are looking up somewhat as at least now I've documented my assessment of whether or not we need to keep the AF-owned equipment I referenced in my last LJ entry. I wrote down that my honest assessment was that I did not believe we could adequately justify keeping the equipment around because we had no operational requirement for it.
If stuff hits the fan later, I'm covered (so long as I get top cover for my assessment either way). I think this part will resolve itself by next week.
In other news, I received a copy of a tax form stating that I had received an Employer ID number for my mom's trust (as I was the designated beneficiary for CY 2005). The form also said that this trust owes back taxes and penalties from 2004 so I'm not sure how this will impact my taxes... though to be safe, I'm setting aside approximately $1k for federal and state back taxes and penalties. That might even be underestimating it... I'm not sure.
Also finally got the Audi S4 repaired and turned in to the Acura dealer since that was my trade-in for the TSX. The only remaining item with that is to store the organizational plates that I took from the S4 and get a different set of plates. The intent is to eventually register the TSX with the organizational plates. I also plan to hit Hickam's Pass and ID section sometime next week to have the S4 removed from the list of registered vehicles by returning its decal. (I still can't find the one for the Camry so I think that won't be removed until I can locate the decal for it... if I can locate it.)
My sister's going on a mission trip this summer for about two weeks. She asked me if I could watch the "kids" (the two dogs) for that time, but unfortunately my schedule doesn't really allow for it. I could cover a weekend but on a daily basis I leave the house around 6:30 and don't get home until 8:30 or 9, sometimes later, sometimes earlier, but it varies each day. It's one of the reasons I chose a cat over a dog as a pet. Lani can stay indoors and for the most part I can leave her alone for most of the day and give her as much attention as I can when I come home at night since she has (and uses) the litterbox and has ample food and water.
I'm burning a day of leave tomorrow (well, today now) to clean up downstairs. I know I'll need more than one day to finish but I'm hoping I can make some significant progress tonight and tomorrow. The good part is that I have no TV in the living room to distract me since the cable is temporarily disconnected until I can get the wiring set up properly in the house.
